Stone, as in “dropped like a”: Well Sharon really screwed the pooch with her China/Tibet/Karma/earthquake comments. I think, watching the tape, that she meant well but her ego and in your-face-manner tripped her up. It has and will cost her dearly. I don’t mean damage to her reputation because I’m not sure that someone who’s famous for showing off her knish on camera has one (a reputation). I mean her economic endeavors in China – a significant source of income for a 50 year old "actress" - have been destroyed and let that be a lesson to the, gosh I hate this word, "celebrities" when they hang their hat on a brand name for money. Word has it Ms. Stone was groveling like a beaten dog when she realized her faux pas but, alas, too late.
Army Suicides: 115 US Army personnel committed suicide in 2007. A terrible and frightening tragedy. It is difficult to gauge the levels as that number needs to be compared to the rate when the army is not at war to gauge its true significance. Read further down in World News and you’ll see the Russian army has a worse problem with 341 suicides last year mainly as a result of bullying.
Clinton (again): I keep saying, Hillary isn’t leaving. She’s owed over $11 million from her campaign and I believe owes another $20 million (who gave her credit?) to third parties. So here’s the deal as I mentioned yesterday. She wants the presidency really badly and, failing that, she’ll reluctantly take the VP job. But take it she will. I say reluctantly because she’ll have a near insurmountable problem playing second fiddle to a young handsome black couple who will soak all the attention away from her, unless of course Obama publicly converts to Islam on inauguration day.
If the VP position is not offered to her soon, allowing her to save face, Hill will stay in the race until she is physically thrown out. By then it will be too late, the damage will have been done to Obama's chances for election, as her disenfranchised voters will either vote for McCain or not vote at all. As for returning to the Senate she’ll be as popular as a wet cat. There’s not much left in life for failed presidential candidates.
